Travel - Before Vacationing With Baby Read These 10 Tips

Stop! Before Vacationing With Baby Read These 10 Tips

by Jen Stoddart

Your first vacation with your baby can be exciting and it
also takes some advanced planning to ensure its success.

Our list of 10 things to consider will help you plan a
successful vacation for you, your partner and your baby.

1. Food and water. If you are going to a popular,
well-developed location like Cancun, or a major European
city easy access to water and food for your baby will not
likely be a problem. If your vacation entails travel to
remote areas, or even on a cruise make sure that you know
how and where you will get water and food for your baby
during the trip.

2. Be self-sufficient when it comes to medications. Bring
the medications that your baby may need for fevers, upset
stomach, rashes, ear infections and diarrhea.

3. Think about your accommodations more when you are
traveling with a baby. When it was just the two of you
traveling you probably didn't spend much time in your
room-or in your cabin if on a cruise ship. Things are
different when traveling with a baby. They will be napping
and they will need more time in the hotel room or cruise
ship cabin. Because of this you might want to upgrade your
room to one that has a balcony. The balcony gives you more
room-and it also will allow you and your partner to better
enjoy the extra time that you will be spending in your room.

4. Reduce your expectations. Anticipate that your vacation
will not be as jammed packed as it used to be. Plan your
day's events around some time to stop and play and exercise
with the baby. Identify the vacation places that each of you
really want to see or visit on the trip - and then agree
upfront that each of you will have times to see what they
want to see while the other parents looks after your baby.

5. Guard against too much time in the stroller for the baby.
Taking a comfortable stroller with you on vacation is
important - just make sure that your child doesn't sleep too
much during the daytime. Many babies love to fall asleep in
their stroller - which might cause them not to sleep well at
night. Make sure there are plenty of opportunities during
the day to take the baby out of the stroller and play with
them.

6. Takes direct flights when flying. When possible avoid
connecting air flights. Flying for babies is not always
easy. The change in air pressure during take-offs and
landings can be hard for babies.

7. If you plan on bringing a travel bed with you on your
trip don't wait for the vacation to get the baby accustomed
to sleeping in it. A couple of days prior to your trip let
the baby start sleeping in it to get them used to it.

8. If you are renting a car during your vacation consider
bringing your own car seat. That way you will know how to
install the seat in the rental car and you will know that is
a safe and comfortable seat for them to ride in.

9. Vaccinations. Check with your baby's doctor 6 to 8 weeks
before the trip to ensure that your baby has all the
necessary shots before they travel.

10. You will need many items for the baby during the trip -
they won't take up much room when you pack - but you will
want to make sure that you have everything that you need.
Make a list of the items that you will need for the baby
during the trips. And review the list before you go and make
sure that you have everything with you that you will need.

Yacht Captian Lord Jim" Rebuilding a part of History

Lord Jim" Rebuilding a part of History

As a yacht Captain, returning home to Australia from the Mediterranean, Caribbean and the USA for the past seven years, I quickly found work at Brisbane Ship Yard refitting a large sloop.

I was approached by a young English Captain of a British Flag yacht called "Lord Jim", who was leaving after three years, He joined as an unpaid deck hand and ended up being the only one left on board after crossing the Pacific.

The vessel was at a marina Marina in the Whitsundays, Queensland. It wanted an available Yacht Captain take it to Thailand via The Great Barrier Reef and Cape York. The brochure looked great, as they always do.

It was an old steel hull ketch with aluminum super structure, riveted together, and built in the UK by Camper & Nicholson in 1977.

A CV was submitted and forgotten about but then I received a call from the owner who consequently was a psychologist in the motivational business .Of course I was very quickly convinced and took the job.

Going North north for two days I arrived at the boat and saw it was a mess and I had a sinking feeling that i had been conned.

As It turned out every thing about the boat was expired from the cruise permit to the ships regulation. Even the safety equipment was way past its used by date and sad to say needing to be replaced. This was very upsetting because I wanted to go.

The captain of the ship quickly left unfortunately for him the owners were disputing his return ticket home.

Being the relief captain Phuket I desperately started the rebuild paying bills using my own money to progress, the promised boat money and credit card never arrived.

About 19 month later I arrived at the Yacht Haven Marina in Phuket. I even continued restoring the vessel to her former glory with all systems up and running within a limited budget.

Refitting this boat has bought great happiness to me and I am Proud of my efforts.

Author John Jackson is a writer for relief captain Phuket a business that has excellent information on Phuket , Bali and Malasia as well as presenting available yacht captain which is a particularly difficult position to fill and need the right person.

Bass Fishing Beginnings-get started in bass fishing...

Bass Fishing Beginnings

Author: Bryan Jakes

You need some basic gear to get started fishing. Fishing is a sport that can be enjoyable no matter how much you spend as long as you have your basic needs.

$50 will get you a pretty good tackle kit so you can try out fishing and see if you like it. Another option is to rent your gear then you won't be out a lot of money if you do decide fishing is not for you.

In order to fish in public laes, rivers, and streams, in most states you need a fishing license. Children under 16 are not required to purchase one but do check with your local laws. Some sport fishing requires extra tags and children are not exempt.

The fishing license fees are used for stocking fish, and maintaining recreational areas. Some states will designate one or two days a year that are called no fishing license days. This is a good time to try out the fishing sport to see if you like it before purchasing a full years license.

Game wardens regularly check for fishing licenses. The citation can be expensive, and if they choose, they can confiscate all of your fishing tackle if you don't have one. Make sure you purchase a license for fishing in the required areas and keep it visible at all times.

The type of fishing gear you need, even though it is pretty basic will depend on what kind of fish you're trying to catch. Trout fishing is pretty popular so let's start with that one first.

You need a reel, a rod, line, hooks, weights, bait, and some kind of tackle box. Don't spend a fortune, but spend enough to buy equipment that will work well and last for at least as long as you're able to see whether you like it or not.

Another option besides buying all of your fishing gear is to rent it from a bait and tackle shop. If you're not sure whether you will even like fishing, renting might be a better way to go. This will help you decide before you lay out cash for any expensive equipment.

Tackle shops that rent fishing equipment can help you figure out which is the best equipment for your needs after you let them know what kind of fish you are going to catch.

For a decent quality rod and reel on a low budget the rod and reel combo may be the best choice and most large companies bundle them for sale as a combo package for beginners.

Before you buy anything check out the fishing tackle at The Daiwa Shop. Check out the great selection of daiwa fishing reels

Traveling With Children

Stroller
Yes you need a stroller. Make it multi-functional--Fold the wheels into the base and it becomes a rear-facing car seat for infants or a front-facing car seat for older kids. Use it as a booster seat at a restaurant or kitchen table and on the airplane. And while not all flight attendants are aware, this device is FAA (United States Federal Aviation Administration) approved. But there is one drawback to convenience and no more rental fees, every parent you meet will want to know all about this piece of your travel gear. You will always have your own stroller...

These sites are very helpful with traveling:
